"What do you want to be when you grow up?"

High school students are asked this question hundreds of times before graduation. The answer students provide is almost always grounded in careers of the past!

But you don't live in the past!

  • "VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity) will be a defining characteristic of the workplace of the future, and careers will need to be more adaptable and flexible than ever before.”
     Hewlett, S. A., & Grosz, B. J. (2019). The Adaptable Mind.
  • "VUCA forces us to be more agile, to be more resilient, and to have a broader range of skills to cope with the complexity of work in the future."
Heskett, J. L. (2017). The Workplace in the Age of VUCA
  • "In a VUCA world, the most successful careers will be those that are agile, resilient, and continuously learning, adapting, and innovating.”
Future of Jobs Report 2020, World Economic Forum
  • "In a VUCA world, careers are no longer about finding a job, but about continuous learning and adaptation."
Topolovec, T., & Znidar, K. (2022). Developing Career Resilience in a VUCA World
